Uncle Fum was actually Herbert Carvery. Uncle Fum had many children and, like a lot of Africville men, worked for the CNR.
He was a deacon with the Seaview Baptist Church and was a joyful man. Uncle Fum always had a joke and a giggle for you. While very short in stature, he was large in his musical abilities with piano, hymns and spirituals in the church.
